Our Philosophy
Every child has a right to a safe and healthy pre-school and childcare environment. Each child has a right to be valued for his or her own uniqueness, and to participate in flexible learning in appropriate group sizes tailored to his or her needs. Our role as educators is to provide activities and experiences that will help our students grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. Services should be provided to parents in ways that are convenient, clearly communicated, and that reflect quality and value.

Our primary goal is to assist our client children to reach their age-appropriate program objectives by experiencing our curriculum and programs in a safe, healthy and comfortable environment.
Family-Owned and Operated
Burgett’s Learning Center is a family-owned and operated business. As such, we have the ability to listen and respond to your individual needs. We will never give you an 800 number and tell you to call the corporate office. We will always try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate unique circumstances. At any time, you can make an appointment with the owner to sit down and discuss any goals, concerns or suggestions you may have.
History
Burgett’s Learning Center opened in a small building in 1970 with five children. Since that time, Burgett’s Learning Center has grown into Greater Lafayette’s largest pre-school and child care provider, with a staff of 65 serving around 420 children. Along the way, special programs and facilities have been added. Our pre-school programs, which are integrated with our care programs, provide the academics children need in today’s society. Music and movement programs, creative expression, swimming, arts and crafts, computers, outside play, dance, skipping and tricycling, and much more help to round out the individual with social interaction, motor development, exercise and just plain fun. Our facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gymnasium, playground structures, indoor sand rooms, computer labs, painting areas, a Light and Lego room, dramatic play areas, indoor and outdoor tricycle tracks, the ball room and more.
Throughout our history, our attention has remained focused on the child. We are continually trying to improve our programs and educate ourselves to better serve the needs of our young friends. At Burgett’s Learning Center, everything we do is child-focused.
State Licensed
Burgett’s Learning Center is fully State licensed. You can rest assured knowing that State licensing professionals, State health and safety inspectors, Tippecanoe County restaurant inspectors, State and local fire inspectors, and a variety of other inspectors regularly inspect Burgett’s Child Care Center and its staff and programs. We encourage everyone to choose only licensed providers to ensure that the provider and its programs are fully accountable.
